I'm new to pickleball. Can I still play?
Absolutely! The tournament includes a Beginner division, and players of all experience levels are welcome. This event is meant to be fun, friendly, and part of Avon Lake's 250 Jubilee Celebration.
What is a Round Robin tournament?
In a Round Robin format, teams play multiple games against different opponents within their bracket. This ensures everyone gets several games instead of being eliminated after just one loss. Final standings are determined by overall performance during those games.
Do I need a partner to register?
Yes. This is a doubles tournament, so players must register with a partner. The registration form collects information for both players.
How long will the tournament last?
The exact length of play depends on the number of teams in each bracket. Because the tournament uses a Round Robin format, teams will play multiple games. Most teams should expect tot be at the courts for approximately 2-3 hours.
When is the registration deadline?
The deadline to register is Sunday, June 21, 2026.
Where will the tournament be held?
The tournament will be held at the Avon Lake High School Pickleball Courts, with 10 courts in use.
What time should players arrive?
Players should plan to arrive at least 30 minutes before their event begins to check in and warm up. Final schedules will be sent to registered players prior to the tournament.
What equipment do I need?
Players should bring their own paddle and appropriate athletic shoes. Tournament balls will be provided.
Can I change my partner after registering?
If a partner change is necessary before the registration deadline, please contact the organizers at alshof@yahoo.com. Changes may be allowed depending on scheduling.
What if my partner cancels or cannot attend?
If one partner cannot attend, notify the organizers as soon as possible. A substitute player may be allowed depending on the tournament schedule and bracket structure.
Will there be prizes?
Place winners will receive a commemorative award.
Will food or drinks be available?
No. Players are encouraged to bring their own water and snacks. Depending on other Jubilee events, options may be available nearby.
Is parking available?
Yes. Parking is available at Avon Lake High School near the tennis and pickleball courts and baseball field as well as across the street at Erieview.
Can spectators attend?
Absolutely! Spectators are welcome to come watch, cheer, and enjoy the action as part of Avon Lake's 250 Jubilee celebration! Bring your own lawn chair!
What happens if it rains?
Because this tournament is part of a larger Jubilee schedule and court and volunteer availability are limited, there is no rain date. If weather affects play, organizers may delay, shorten, or cancel the event.

Official Rules
1. Tournament Format: The tournament will be played in a Round Robin format. Teams will play multiple games within their bracket, and standings will be determined by overall performance during pool play.
Brackets will be divided by skill level:

Advanced 4.0+
Players will compete in the division indicated on t heir registration form. Tournament organizers (Avon Lake Sports Hall of Fame) reserve the right to adjust brackets if needed to ensure balanced play.
2. Events: Two events will be played:

Start Time: Morning (exact schedule will be shared prior to the event)

Teams may participate in both events provided they register for each division.
3. Scoring:

Standard USA Pickleball rules will be followed.

Games may be played to 11 or 15 points, depending on size of bracket.
4. Equipment:

Players must provide their own paddles.

Tournament balls (Franklin X-40) will be supplied by the organizers.

Players should bring their own water or sports beverage to stay hydrated; snacks are optional.
5. Player Conduct: This is a community celebration event as part of Avon Lake's 250 Jubilee. Good sportsmanship is expected at all times. Players should:

Treat opponents, partners, volunteers, and officials respectfully

Make fair line calls

Follow directions from tournament volunteers and court monitors
Unsportsmanlike conduct may result in warnings or disqualification.
6. Check-In: Players should arrive at least 30 minutes before their scheduled event to check in and warm up. Once tournament has started, there will be a 3 minute warm-up period. Final brackets and schedules will be shared with registered players prior to the tournament.
7. Weather Policy: This tournament is weather dependent. Because of the Jubilee schedule and court availability, there is no rain date. If weather prevents play, the event may be shortened, delayed, or cancelled at the discretion of the organizers (Avon Lake Sports Hall of Fame).
